Following on the success of the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone in Sanya, China EDG was brought in to develop a plan that would modernize and bring the project into the 21st century as an international tourism destination capable of competing with projects in Southeast Asia such as Thailand and Malaysia.
The solution became The Nanshan Dream Culture Park – the worlds first cultural Disney World uniting the ideas of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism into one comprehensive and seamless resort experience. The master plan and strategy includes an expanded Dongtian Taoist Park (Big and Small Cave), the expanded Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, and a new concept for the Confucius Culture Tourism Zone within the 2090 hectare master plan.
EDG also designed a comprehensive transportation system comprised of aerial trams, clean fuel buses, and a monorail system linking all of the various lands within the site.
