Hailed as “Best of the Decade” by Time Magazine in 1990, Battery Park City is a triumph of urban design, a success story of American urban redevelopment. In his roles as Director of Architecture and Design, Senior Director for Project Management, and Officer of the Corporation for the Battery Park City Authority, Thomas Kozlowski was instrumental in management, planning, design, development, and implementation of the 92-acre, mixed-use waterfront community in lower Manhattan, New York City, consisting of the 6-million sf World Financial Center (home to American Express and Merrill Lynch), 12,000 residential units, hotels, 30 acres of award-winning parks and open spaces, Museum of Jewish Heritage, retail and entertainment, and renowned environmental arts and events programs. During Thomas Kozlowski’s tenure, and while working jointly with some of the most prominent developers, architects and artists in the US, Battery Park City received over 20 planning and design awards including the prestigious Institute Honors from the AIA.
