Zhenfeng County, Guizhou, home to a vast and rich cultural and topographic landscape, including the famous “Two Breast Peak Mountains” offering unique symbolic cultural connection to “Mother Earth” that is more specific that other karst formations of southern China that Guizhou is famous for.
EDG was engaged by the county to help establish a brand and identity that could leverage these existing natural monuments and become an attractive force, drawing visitors and guests to Zhenfeng County from the region, Mainland China, and around the world. Taking its cue from Disney World in Orlando, EDG’s strategy proposed a similar sized single themed destination resort aggregating 15 of the most significant ecological, landscape, and cultural scenic spots within the county into a singly entity. Utilizing the concept of Nu Wa, the project was named “The Mother Earth Cultural Tourism Park.” Encompassing over 25,000 acres (approximately 10,000 hectares), the overall master plan is knit together through a managed system of wetland parks – The Mother Earth Necklace System – bringing together developed parks, entertainment areas, and cultural attractions (highlighting the local Buyi minority population), and resort hotels into a unified cultural experience.
